Katie Holmes returns to Broadway after Tom Cruise divorce

LOS ANGELES

A week after reaching a divorce settlement with Tom Cruise, Holmes says she's agreed to star in the new play, "Dead Accounts," a comedy by acclaimed playwright Theresa Rebeck.

It will be Holmes' first big role on Broadway in four years. Her last appearance, which also marked her debut, was in the 2008 production of "All My Sons."

Holmes, who starred in several films, has custody of the couple's 6-year-old daughter, Suri, and has a home in New York City.

The play will open this fall at the Music Box Theatre.
