Jennifer Jason Leigh has joined the cast of "Revenge" and will make her debut on the ABC show's second season, which returns in the fall.
The 50-year-old actress will play main character Emily Thorne's mother, who was presumed to be dead up until the end of season 1. An ABC spokesperson confirmed her casting to OnTheRedCarpet.com. Leigh will have a recurring role on the show.
Leigh recently starred as Jill Price-Gray on the Showtime series "Weeds," which recently began its eighth and final season. She played Stacy Hamilton in the 1982 cult classic "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" and is also known for her roles in films such as "The Hudsucker Proxy," "Road to Perdition" and "The Machinist."
On "Revenge," Emily VanCamp plays Thorne, whose real name is Amanda Clarke. She is on a quest for revenge against the people who framed her father for a terrorist attack - namely her next-door neighbors, the broken but powerful Grayson family. Madeleine Stowe plays its matriarch, Victoria, who had a secret affair with Thorne's dad.
In March 2012, Stowe dished to OnTheRedCarpet.com about her multi-faceted character.
"She's a very strange mixture of things," Stowe said. "She's ruthless on one hand and incredibly tender and very sexual on the other but she does play some very questionable tactics to ensure her son's safety."
The series debuted on September 21, 2011 to 10.02 million viewers, making it the highest rated television series in the hour for ABC since "Lost."
Revenge returns for season 2 on September 21, airing Sunday nights at 9 p.m. on ABC. ABC is the parent company of OnTheRedCarpet.com.
