July 26, 2012 7:36:41 PM PDT
A security guard foiled an attempted armed robbery at a 7-Eleven store in Hawthorne Sunday night.

Two armed suspects entered the 7-Eleven store at 3300 West 135th Street near Lemoli Avenue at 10:34 p.m. Sunday.

The first suspect aimed a large silver revolver at the front counter and waved it around at several of the customers inside the store. The suspect demanded everyone get on the ground. The second suspect then jumped over the counter, where two employees were standing.

The store's armed security guard was standing just inside the door. He drew his weapon and ordered the suspects not to move. The guard then fired at the first suspect, missing him. The suspect turned and pointed his gun at the guard, but did not fire.

The two suspects ran out of the store. They were seen running southbound on Lemoli Avenue.

No one was injured in the incident.

The first suspect was described as a black adult male between 21-28 years old, standing 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall, weighing between 180-210 pounds, wearing a black short-sleeved shirt, black or gray pants, with a dark bandanna covering his face.

The second suspect was described as a black adult male between 18-25 years old, standing 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall, weighing 200 pounds, wearing a black long-sleeve shirt, dark jeans and a black bandanna covering his face.

Hawthorne Police detectives are investigating the crime and asking anyone with information to call Detective Paul Vu at (310) 349-2851 with any information.
