Rihanna got candid in her interview with Oprah Winfrey for "Oprah's Next Chapter" set to air later this month and talked about her relationship with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.
The 24-year-old singer brought Winfrey to her hometown in Barbados and in a promotional video, Winfrey admitted that Rihanna surprised her.
Winfrey also asked Rihanna about Chris Brown, who assaulted the singer after a pre-Grammy Awards party in 2009.
Brown pleaded guilty to a felony charge was sentenced to five years of probation and six months of community service and was ordered by the courts to receive domestic violence courses for a year.
"It was embarrassing. It was humiliating. I lost my best friend," Rihanna said in a promotional video. "I was resentful. I held a grudge. I was dark."
In February, the singers released singles that featured guest vocals from one another. Rihanna recorded a remix of her song "Birthday Cake" and Brown released a remix of his song "Turn Up the Music."
Rumors have been going on for years that the two have reconnected romantically, however, Brown's spokesperson has denied the rumors as recently as late July.
In a second promotional spot, Oprah admitted she had certain ideas about the pop star prior to the interview.
"I went there with my own ideas about who she was, watching the videos and listening to her music. I thought she was going to be kind of a badass, kind of hard-edged rocker pop woman," Winfrey said. "Nothing could've been farther from the truth."
Rihanna's interview with Oprah for "Oprah's Next Chapter" airs on August 19 on OWN. Check out the promotional videos below.
