Idaho plane crash video released to public

STANLEY, Idaho

The plane's passengers were filming the Idaho landscape as the 1947 Stinson took off from an airport in Stanley. But the plane struggled to gain altitude and shortly after crashed into some tree tops.

The cameras captured the crash and the aftermath. Miraculously, all four people onboard survived.

"I remember hitting the trees and it sounded like rapid fire," said passenger Tol Gropp. "But then we were all upside down, seat belted in, and you can hear in the video my dad asking if everyone is all right. I honestly believe my dad saved our lives by the way he continued to fly the plane through the trees and making sure that he didn't give up."

The pilot flew helicopters in Vietnam. He was the only one seriously injured; his jaw was broke in three places.
