Great white shark swims past surfers in Santa Barbara; warnings posted

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.

Warning signs were posted along 14 different beaches there. Authorities said the shark came within 5 feet of some surfers.

The 7-foot-long shark showed its dorsal fin and raised its tail out of the water. Fortunately, it did not attack anyone.

Based on the surfers' description of the shark, authorities determined it was likely a great white.
