Penelope Cruz and her sister Monica star in a new "Super Mario Bros." videogame ad, and no, neither of them plays Princess Peach.
Cruz, a 38-year-old Oscar-winning Spanish actress, dons a mustache, a red shirt and hat and blue overalls to portray as the pipe-traveling, mushroom-eating plumber and hero Mario in an ad for Nintendo's "New Super Mario Bros. 2" game for the handheld 3DS and 3DS XL.
The sister play the game on separate devices while lounging outside a luxurious home, by a pool. They bet on who can advance further in the game.
"You want me to remind you who's the big sister?" Cruz asks.
However, she loses and then wears the Mario outfit in public as her sister laughs in the background.
Monica, 35, is also an actress. She starred in several Spanish films, the 2011 British thriller "Iron Cross" and also played her sister's body double in "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides." Cruz portrayed the pirate Angelica, an ex-lover of Johnny Depp's character, Captain Jack Sparrow. The actress was visibly pregnant for part of the filming process.
A 2011 Nintendo ad for the game "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D" starred Robin Williams and his daughter, Zelda, who was named after the franchise's main character.
