Antelope Valley man stuck in concrete hole for nearly 24 hours

LANCASTER, Calif.

The man was walking home from a friend's house when he got trapped while trying to get his lost shoe.

Los Angeles County firefighters say the 45-year-old is extremely lucky that a group of horseback riders heard his cries for help. By the time they got there, he'd been stuck in the hole for almost a day in the sweltering heat.

The man suffered only minor injuries. He is now being treated at the Antelope Valley Medical Center in Lancaster.
