Two boys had a close call in the San Francisco Bay after their rowboat began to take on water.

"I'm lucky to be here right now and not in the bottom of the ocean," said one of the boys, Jack Olinger.

They were rescued by the brave efforts of a Good Samaritan. Nick Tumilowicz, a former lifeguard, swam a mile out to the boys in 55-degree water.

With the boat slowly going under, the man grabbed the boys by their life vests and with the other arm, side-stroked to shore. The boys call Tumilowicz their hero.

The trio made it to a pier where a Coast Guard cutter picked them up. Everyone is doing OK.
