Katie Holmes and Victoria Beckham, who were close friends years before the actress' recent divorce from Tom Cruise, are reportedly set to show their fashion collections on the same day at New York Fashion Week.
While Beckham has shown during Fashion Week since Spring 2009, Holmes will be making her Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week debut. UK's Daily Mail reported that both women will show their Spring/Summer 2013 collections on September 9, though this apparently isn't the case.
The Mercedes-Benz fashion week website schedule lists Holmes & Yang's debut at 9:30 a.m. on September 12. Victoria Beckham's Spring/Summer 2013 collection will be shown independently of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Her line's rep had no immediate comment as to when Beckham's show is scheduled, but the collection will most likely be showcased at the New York Public Library, where her last two shows were held.
It is also unclear whether there is any bad blood between Beckham and Holmes. The Daily Mail cites a source as saying that Holmes is "definitely hoping to upstage Victoria," who took the actress under her high fashion wing several years back.
The former Spice Girls singer told Marie Claire magazine in 2010 that she and husband David Beckham did not practice Scientology, the controversial religion rumored to have driven a wedge between Holmes and Cruise."I'm very close to Katie, but with us, it's all about girl talk," Beckham told Marie Claire in their November 2010 issue. "Katie is so talented and such an incredible mother, spinning plates like all us working mums do."
Holmes and her longtime stylist Jeanne Yang launched the fashion line Holmes & Yang in the Fall of 2009. Their Fall 2012 collection was made available at Barneys in New York City and was inspired by Diane Keaton. The line includes camisoles, suits, gowns and separates. Pieces range from $325 to thousands of dollars.
In April 2011, Tom Cruise's eldest daughter, Isabella "Bella" Cruise, joined Holmes & Yang as an apprentice. She reportedly stopped working with Holmes after she filed for divorce from Cruise on June 29.
The actress rose to fame playing Joey on the 1990s teen series "Dawson's Creek." She recently filmed the miniseries "The Kennedys," playing Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. She last appeared on the big screen in "Jack and Jill" with Adam Sandler and Al Pacino, which was released in November.
