Emma Stone's first heartbreak left her crawling on the floor, according to the starlet.
Stone revealed the experience of her first heartbreak at 14 in an interview with director Cameron Crowe for the September issue of Interview magazine. Stone, 23, also appears on the issue's cover.
Crowe asks Stone, "What was your first heartbreak like?"
"I was crawling on the floor. I remember throwing up," Stone said.
"Like, within the hour. I remember being on the floor . . . I have never felt anything quite like that. It was so visceral," she later added. "It's like someone has killed you and you have to live through it and watch it happen . . . It was awful."
The actress said the break-up caught her by surprise. Stone has been rumored to be dating her "Spider-Man" co-star Andrew Garfield for over a year.
Stone rose to fame after appearing in "Superbad" and quickly racked up roles in "Crazy, Stupid, Love," "Friends with Benefits" and "The Help." Stone was nominated for a Golden Globe for her break-out role in "Easy A."
The actress went on to say during the interview that she uses events like that in her work.
"That's not actually my moment or my theme -- my moment is not one that I would probably talk about. But there is a moment that keeps coming back over and over throughout my life," she said. "It's the thing that I return to when I'm making a decision out of fear. Anything that I'm doing out of fear is defined by that moment."
Up next, Stone will appear in "Gangster Squad" with her "Crazy Stupid Love" co-star Ryan Gosling. The film is set for release on January 11.
Stone said that she sometimes sends the scripts she gets to Gosling to get his opinion.
"I've asked him to read a couple of scripts. I just really like hearing his viewpoint because I know that it's never going to be tainted," she said. "It has really just been scripts so far, because I only met him two years ago when we did 'Crazy, Stupid, Love,' but it was like meeting a member of your team or something. I really like his brain."
Stone's issue of Interview magazine goes on sale on August 28.
