Christina Aguilera is gearing up for the release of her seventh studio album and said in a recent interview that she compares it to a "rebirth."
The 31-year-old pop star and "The Voice" mentor told The Associated Press that the new album will be a culmination of "everything I've experienced up until this point."
Although the new album does not have an official title or release date, the album's first single "Your Body" will be released soon. The album is expected to hit stores in the fall.
Aguilera's last album, a 2010 dance and electronic album titled "Bionic," sold just 310,000 units and was her first album to not reach platinum status.
Since then, Aguilera has gone through a divorce, found new love and came back into the public eye on "The Voice." Aguilera and Jordan Bratman were married for five years before she filed for divorce in 2010. They have a 4-year-old son, Max.
"I've been through a lot since the release of my last album, being on ('The Voice'), having had a divorce," she told the wire service. "This is all sort of a free rebirth for me."
"In the fashion that I always like to put forth, it's very self-expressive and it's all heartfelt," Aguilera added about her new material.
Aguilera recently shot a music video for her new album's first single "Your Body." The song was produced by Max Martin, who also produced the Maroon 5 hit "Moves Like Jagger," where Aguilera did guest vocals.
Aguilera was spotted wearing a skin tight black dress, hot-pink pumps, a dip-dyed pink wig and carrying a baseball bat on the set of the video for "Your Body," according to photos published in The New York Daily News.
The new album will feature fellow "Voice" coach Cee Lo Green and Aguilera will perform "Your Body" on the show on September 17, a week after the show's third season premiere on September 10.
Adam Levine, Maroon 5 frontman and a "Voice" coach, told Aguilera at a recent news conference for the show that he'd heard "Your Body" and added, "I hate you because it's so good."
