The document, released Monday, doesn't include a formal determination of a cause of death. It is expected to take a few weeks for the investigation, but officials are treating the director's death as a probable suicide.

The 68-year-old director of "Top Gun" jumped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge into the Los Angeles Harbor on Aug. 19.

Scott also directed Hollywood blockbusters "Days of Thunder" and "Beverly Hills Cop II." His family has created a memorial scholarship at the American Film Institute to help future filmmakers and honor his legacy.
