LOS ANGELES

According to a recent audit by the Los Angeles City Controller, Camp Valcrest in the Angeles National Forest closed 13 years ago and Camp Radford in the San Bernardino National Forest closed 20 years ago.

The Department of Recreations and Parks spent $2 million for caretakers to live at the camps. They also spent $100,000 to truck water to camp Valcrest.

The city wants to eventually re-open both camps.
