Jessica Simpson has opened up about her post-pregnancy weight loss and said she regrets eating whatever she wanted.
"I let myself indulge in everything I wanted because it was the first time I was ever pregnant, and I wanted to enjoy it," Simpson told USA Today. "I wanted to be happy and eat what I wanted."
Simpson and her fiance Eric Johnson welcomed their first child, daughter Maxwell Drew, on May 1. She told the newspaper that her favorite indulgence was macaroni and cheese.
"I didn't realize it didn't all come off with the baby," Simpson said of her pregnancy weight gain. "I'm not a supermodel. My body is not bouncing back like a supermodel. I'm just your everyday woman who is trying to feel good and be healthy for her daughter, her fiancé and herself."
In June, the singer signed a multi-million dollar deal with Weight Watchers to be the weight loss program's newest spokes model. Her first commercial for the company is slated to air next week.
Simpson joined the program with her mother Tina and several friends and said since joining Weight Watchers, she has "lost weight every single week."
Though the singer doesn't like depriving herself, she said she is "eating less of everything" and gave up macaroni and cheese but couldn't give up one thing.
"I'm a woman who wants her chocolate. I allot myself a fun-size (bag) M&Ms. I eat one of those, and my craving is satisfied. I don't need the whole bag of M&Ms."
Simpson told USA Today that she has been using the PointsPlus program, where each food item is assigned a number, which symbolizes the amount of fat, carbohydrates, protein and fiber. Members are allotted a certain number of points per day and Simpson said she started with 34 points and went down to 28 points when she was done breast-feeding.
The 32-year-old is also doing about an hour of cardio exercise daily. She said candidly, "My boobs are way too big to run at this point. I'm just walking."
The 5' 4" singer said that when she posed nude for the April cover of Elle magazine, she weighed 170 pounds. According to the Weight Watchers program, the goal weight range for her height would be between 117 and 146 pounds.
"My weight has always been something that people like to comment on. I've gotten used to it. It'll start to get boring at some point, I hope," Simpson said. "Nobody wants to talk about their weight. For me, I have had to come to a place where I am comfortable with myself. I'm a mom now, and get to be a role model for this beautiful little girl."
She has been spotted several times over the past months working out with celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak, but recently denied reports that she was being pressured to drop the pounds quickly.
The new mom Tweeted on June 27, "Just so everyone knows...Weight Watchers hasn't put ANY pressure on me! I'm trying to be as healthy as I can be for myself and I feel great!"
