Honey Boo Boo Child's mother has slammed reports that the family only earns $4,000 an episode on their TLC reality series, "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo."
The series focuses on 7-year-old Alana Thompson, the young beauty-pageant contestant from 'Toddlers & Tiaras,' better known as Honey Boo Boo Child. The show also follows her eccentric Georgia family including mom June, father Mike "Sugar Bear" and her older sisters Lauryn "Pumpkin," Anna "Chickadee" and Jessica "Chubbs."
The Hollywood Reporter claimed that the family earned between $2,000 and $4,000 per episodes, along with a location fee for filming at their home. The first season received a 10-episode order, meaning the family would earn around $40,000.
Matriarch June Thompson slammed the reports and though she did not specify their salary, she told TMZ that the family is "very well compensated."
The TLC Network's rep had no comment on the family's salary.
June also commented on the show's critics, who have deemed it "redneck trash," telling the entertainment site that there are just as many people who enjoy the show because they can relate to the family.
"For every person that's hating on us, there's three people that love us," Thompson told TMZ Live over the phone on September 5. "It's weird that haters know more about our show than our amazing fans."
"Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" earned over three million viewers for its August 29 episode, which was more than double the viewership of Fox News' presentation of the Republican National Convention.
The family of six recently added a seventh, when 18-year-old Anna "Chickadee" Thompson gave birth to daughter Kaitlyn on July 26. The baby has already made headlines for being born with two thumbs. According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, the condition known as pre-axial polydactyly, occurs in 2 per 10,000 births.
"We have embraced [the abnormality]. It makes Kaitlyn more special to us," June told People magazine.
The baby was also shown sucking on a Mountain Dew-dipped pacifier, in photos obtained by BuzzFeed.com.
