Gwyneth Paltrow was named People magazine's Best Dressed in the World for 2012, the weekly announced on September 12.

"Her red carpet skills are unparalleled, always arriving in unexpected, yet chic looks," People magazine wrote of their decision. "Of course, it helps to have Gwynnie's body when going for a Stella McCartney racer back gown or Prada micromini - but we can't begrudge her that when she seems to be having so much fun with her wardrobe."

The magazine named Kate Middleton, now known as Catherine Duchess of Cambridge, the Classic Beauty of their Best Dressed list. Emma Stone came in third on the list, as Red Carpet Ruler.

The Best Dressed list also included The Kardashians (Brunette Bombshells), Miranda Kerr (The Street Style Pro), Reese Witherspoon (The Hot Mama), Rihanna (The Risky Renegade), Jessica Alba (The Jean Queen), Diane Kruger (The High-Fashion Pro) and Jennifer Lawrence (Best Rising Star).

Paltrow has not commented on the honor of being named the best dressed celebrity in the world. She recently attended the premiere of the sex addiction film, "Thanks for Sharing," at the Toronto Film Festival.

The actress recently reprised her role as Pepper Potts in the "Iron Man" spinoff film "The Avengers," and is currently filming "Iron Man 3," but she told reporters at the Toronto Film Festival that she isn't sure she will return for the next sequel.

Paltrow told E! Online, "I'm getting old for this [expletive], you know what I mean?"

The 39-year-old Oscar-winner and husband Chris Martin, 35 welcomed their first child, a daughter named Apple, in May 2004. Their son Moses was born in April 2006. Paltrow married Martin, the front man for the British band Coldplay, in December 2003.
