Yosemite visitor recovers from hantavirus

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, Calif.

It's believed that he or she stayed in the now shuttered Curry Village Cabins like most of the other people infected at the park this summer.

Three recent Yosemite visitors have already died, and thousands more could be at risk. People can be infected by inhaling the virus or by handling infected rodents. Infected people usually have flu-like symptoms including fever, shortness of breath, chills and muscle and body aches.

Yosemite National Park has set up a non-emergency phone line for all questions and concerns related to hantavirus in Yosemite at (209) 372-0822. It will be staffed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
