Bus veers off overpass, lands near 110 Freeway

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES

The unoccupied bus was parked near the 110 Freeway at 3rd Street at the time of the incident. According to police, the bus was out of service from Montebello Transit. A supervisor apparently tried to start the bus from the outside and released the brake, causing the bus to roll back.

The bus then hit the supervisor's van, and then rolled over onto a freeway off-ramp below just before 8 a.m.

"This bus fell approximately 30 feet below onto the 9th Street off-ramp," said Capt. Jaime Moore of Los Angeles City Fire.

Amazingly, no one was injured. The incident remains under investigation.
