OTRC: Kristen Stewart: being topless in 'On The Road' didn't bother me

Kristen Stewart said that being topless in 'On The Road' didn't bother her because she was so comfortable with director Walter Salles.

"It didn't bother me," Stewart told MTV News as the Toronto International Film Festival. "That's something that's so talked about ... Once we got on set, it was so about just breathing and letting it happen. [Salles] put so much trust in us ... So by the time we got there it was like, 'OK, so I have to take my clothes off?' It's so not a big deal."

The actress stars in the film, based on the infamous Jack Kerouac beat novel of the same name, as Marylou, the 16-year-old love interest of the Dean Moriarty (played by Garrett Hedlund). Sam Riley plays Sal Paradise and the film also stars Amy Adams, Kirsten Dunst, Elisabeth Moss and Viggo Mortensen.

Stewart commit to the part when she was 17 years old and acknowledges that it would have been very different without the experience of five years.

"I should have definitely been older than 17 while playing this part, absolutely," she told MTV. "It would have been done very differently if I was younger, having played the part... Anything that feels guarded, in this particular movie especially, would just be so against the spirit of it"

Stewart also addressed the nudity at Cannes in May and said that she enjoyed scaring herself in the role.

"Obviously everyone who does scenes like that, the first thing they say is 'Oh, I felt so safe, Walter put me in an environment that was very informed by the natural story,'" Stewart told the Associated Press at Cannes. "But I loved pushing, I love scaring myself and I think to watch genuine experience on screen Is just so much more interesting than seeing you can see the tape holding up the pasties. I wanted to do it."

The 22-year-old actress has previously appeared in her underwear in films like "Welcome to the Rileys" and "The Runaways."

Stewart recently returned to the red carpet for the premiere of "On The Road" at the Toronto Film Festival, for the first time since photos of her and "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders hit tabloid covers in July. Stewart said in a statement to the press on July 25 that the incident was a "momentary indiscretion."

The upcoming promotion of "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" has some outlets buzzing about public appearances she will have to make with co-star and reported ex-boyfriend Robert Pattinson, but Stewart told the Associated Press that they are "going to be fine" during the promotional tour.

"On The Road" hits theaters on December 21 in the United States. Meanwhile, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" will be released on November 16. Check out Kristen Stewart's "On The Road" interviews below.
