Endeavour expected in LA Friday because of delay due to bad weather

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla.

NASA had planned for the 747 carrying the shuttle to take off from Kennedy Space Center on Monday.

The flight is now scheduled to take off Wednesday morning. Low flyovers are still planned along Cape Canaveral and at NASA facilities in Louisiana and Mississippi. A stop in Houston will be shortened to one day.

Endeavour is expected at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday. It will remain at LAX for about a month before being transported to the California Science Center in Exposition Park. It is scheduled to open to the public Oct. 30.

Endeavour is the second of NASA's three retired shuttles to head to a museum. Discovery landed at the Smithsonian Institution's display hangar in Virginia last spring. Atlantis will stay at Kennedy.
