Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who stars in ABC's "Modern Family" has gotten engaged to his longtime boyfriend, Justin Mikita.
The 36-year-old actor made the announcement while promoting Tie The Knot, an organization which, with the help of Tie Bar, raises money from the sale of bowties to support marriage equality.
Ferguson said in a promotional video for Tie The Knot, "It's true, I popped the big Q."
Mikita, a 27-year-old lawyer who has been dating Ferguson for nearly two years, added in the video, "I said yes!"
On "Modern Family," a mockumentary-style sitcom, Ed O'Neill stars as Jay Pritchett, the patriarch of an eclectic family. Sofia Vergara plays his younger, second wife. Ferguson plays Pritchett's son and he and Eric Stonestreet's character are a homosexual couple raising a Vietnamese daughter. Julie Bowen plays Pritchett's daughter and Ty Burrell portrays her husband.
Ferguson is nominated for a 2012 Emmy, for Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Comedy Series, for his role in "Modern Family." His co-stars Eric Stonestreet, Ed O'Neil and Ty Burrell are also nominated.
Ferguson, a native of Missoula, Montana, began his career on stage and made his Broadway debut in 1998 with a role in a revival of the musical "On The Town." Ferguson also starred in the musical "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" between 2005 and 2006.
Ferguson made his on-screen debut in 2000 in the television film "Sally Hemings: An American Scandal." In 2006, he played Richie Velch on the short-lived show "The Class." Ferguson starred opposite Niecy Nash and Jerry O'Connell on the comedy series "Do Not Disturb" in 2008. Ferguson also had the recurring role of Gabe Farkus on the sitcom "Ugly Betty."
