Shakira is expecting her first child with her boyfriend, 25-year-old Spanish soccer star Gerard Pique.
The 35-year-old singer announced the news on Facebook, writing on September 19, "As some of you may know, Gerard and I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby!"
"At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days," Shakira continued. "This means I will not be able to be a part of the iHeartRadio Music Festival... I'd like to thank Clear Channel and my fans for their constant love and understanding. Big kiss!"
Shakira and Pique, who is a central defender for Futbol Club Barcelona, have been dating for about two years but didn't confirm the relationship until March 2011.
On September 18, it was announced that Shakira would be replacing Christina Aguilera as a judge on season four of "The Voice," while Usher would replace Cee Lo Green.
Shakira, a Colombian singer and songwriter, rose to fame in the United States in 2001 with the song "Whenever, Wherever," which was accompanied by a sexy music video that showcased her signature hip-shaking dance skills. She is also known for her singles Underneath Your Clothes," which Katie Couric recently sang in a promo for her new talk show "Katie" (watch video) and the 2006 single "Hips Don't Lie," featuring Wyclef Jean.
Shakira is also Grammy winner and has three awards under her belt. The singer also performs and records music in Spanish and has sold more than 60 million albums worldwide. She is currently in Barcelona recording her new album.
Shakira has appeared on reality shows such as "American Idol" and played herself on shows such as "Ugly Betty" and "MADtv."
