Jon Cryer is recovering after suffering a nasty crash during the Nautica Malibu Triathlon on Sunday, September 16.
The 47-year-old actor lost control of his bicycle and hit the pavement where he began skidding. According to the Associated Press, nothing was broken, but Cryer left some skin from his left shoulder, arm and leg on the Pacific Coast Highway.
"I did the wobbling back skid where the bike just flies out from underneath you," Cryer told TMZ on September 17. "You know how cyclists wear the leotard basically, that offers zero protection? I used that to break my fall and I skidded probably like 15 feet on my skin."
The actor acknowledged that the crash could have been worse, had it not been for his protective gear.
"My helmet took the brunt of it thankfully," Cryer said. "I could feel the helmet cracking as my head went back... of course my first thought was 'Not the face! Not the face!'"
Cryer has played Alan Harper on the CBS series since it began in 2003. Angus T. Jones portrays his son, Jake. Sheen played Harper's brother, Charlie, before the actor was axed in March 2011 amid a public meltdown. (Check out Charlie Sheen's craziest quotes from his meltdown.) Kutcher was then cast as a new character, a broken-hearted Internet billionaire.
The upcoming 10th season, which premieres on September 27, is set to feature guest star Miley Cyrus, who will play Jake's love interest.
Cryer is nominated for an Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series Emmy Award for his role in the CBS comedy series. The 2012 Emmy Awards are set to air on ABC on Sunday, September 23.
Cryer had his breakout role came in 1986, when he played awkward Phil "Duckie" Dale in the 1986 film "Pretty in Pink," which stars Molly Ringwald and was written by the late John Hughes.
