Human remains found in Pacific Palisades

PACIFIC PALISADES, LOS ANGELES

Authorities were called to the area near the Los Liones Canyon trail in the 500 block of Los Liones Drive at 11:15 a.m. Two hikers were near the trail when they saw what looked like a human skull. They immediately notified officials at a nearby fire station, who then called police.

Officers searched the area and found skeletal remains of a human torso about 20 feet from the skull.

The remains may be linked to a college student missing since July. David Goeser's car was found near the Los Liones Cayon trailhead in Topanga State Park that month, but the 22-year-old UCLA honors student hasn't been seen since.

Family members said Goeser had been struggling with a medical condition and was under a doctor's care when he disappeared. Authorities launched a massive search in the area after discovering his car, but came up empty.

Authorities don't know if the remains are indeed Goeser. The investigation is ongoing. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the exact cause of death.

Anyone with information is urged to call the LAPD at (877) LAPD-24-7.
