Lindsay Lohan was rushed to the hospital with a lung infection, her father Michael Lohan says the actress' asthma is to blame.

Lohan was rushed to the emergency room in Manhattan's Mt. Sinai hospital on Sunday, September 23. Her father told the New York Daily News that the actress had a chest infection and was prescribed antibiotics.

"She's fine, but she had a bad case of asthma as a kid, so she has to take these things seriously," Michael Lohan told the Daily News. "When she was a kid, we almost lost her a couple of times because of the asthma."

Lohan has apparently been suffering from the infection for several weeks and delayed her trip to New York.

Earlier in her trip, the 26-year-old actress was arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident after striking a pedestrian.

The actress struck a man while parking a 2010 Porsche Cayenne in an alley. The man, a 30-something cook named Jose Rodriguez, called authorities and complained of being struck. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for a knee injury, according to WABC Television, the sister station of KABC Television, OTRC.com's parent company.

Lohan's rep Steve Honig told OTRC.com in a statement, "While some of the facts are still being gathered, it appears that this is much ado about nothing. We are confident this matter will be cleared up in the coming weeks and the claims being made against Lindsay will be proven untrue."

Michael Lohan told the NY Daily News that his daughter was considering a lawsuit against Rodriguez, after video surveillance showed that the cook raced after her car but claimed to have sustained serious injuries.

"She's absolutely suing," he told The News on September 24. "You have to put your foot down to people doing this to you. I mean, come on. This guy has a brace on but went running down the ramp after her?"

Meanwhile, Lindsay Lohan is gearing up to make her small screen return in Lifetime's original TV movie, "Liz & Dick," which is slated for release in November. Lohan portrays Elizabeth Taylor in the movie, opposite "GCB" actor Grant Bowler who portrays her two-time husband, Richard Burton.
