Auction of ex-Dixon comptroller's property nets $4.78M

September 24, 2012 (DIXON, Ill.)

The U.S. Marshal Service says the sale of 400 horses and other horse related equipment brought in $4.78 million. All of the property belonged to Rita Crundwell. She's accused of stealing $53 million Dixon over 22 years.

If Crundwell is convicted, proceeds from the sale goes to the city of Dixon. If she is acquitted, the money will be returned to her.
