James Cohan, serial plaintiff, arrested on fraud charges

LOS ANGELES

California Healthcare Services investigators accuse James Cohan of defrauding several government agencies, including Social Security and Medi-Cal, of more than $100,000.

Cohan claimed to be disabled and filed 180 lawsuits against businesses, saying they violated disability laws. But an Eyewitness News investigation found him hiking up a steep mountain the same day he went to court claiming he was disabled.

The Sun Valley man has been convicted in the past of firearms violations and running an illegal medical dispensary.

The investigation that led to the arrest began after our first report on Cohan more than a year ago.
