Jason Aldean was recently photographed appearing cozy with a woman who is not his wife at a bar and has now opened up about the matter publicly, saying he "screwed up."
The incident took place on Wednesday on the patio of The Den of Hollywood, a popular venue located on the Sunset Strip, according to TMZ. The website posted blurry paparazzi photos of the 35-year-old singer getting cozy with a blonde woman that it says is "American Idol" season 11 contestant and Charlotte Bobcats cheerleader Brittany Kerr, 24. The woman resembles her. Aldean has not confirmed her identity and Kerr has not commented.
"The truth is that I screwed up," Aldean said in a Facebook message on Sunday. "I had too much to drink, let the party get out of hand and acted inappropriately at a bar. I left alone, caught the bus to our next show and that's the end of the story. I ultimately ended up embarrassing my family and myself. I'm not perfect, and I'm sorry for disappointing you guys. I really appreciate being able to work through this privately with my family and for all your continued support."
The singer has been married to his high school sweetheart, Jessica Ussery, since 2001 and they are parents to two daughters - Keeley, 9, and Kendyl, 5, according to People magazine. Ussery has also not commented about the incident.
More than 29,000 people commented on Aldean's Facebook post. Many expressed support for the singer. One user, Torrie Ann Allen-Derrick, wrote: "Good luck in making this right with you Family. Everyone screws up now and again. We are only human. Forgiving is tough but forgetting is even harder. God bless you and your Family."
Others were more critical.
"How would you feel if a man did this to your daughters some day? Lead by example. Shameful," wrote user Karrie Spies.
Aldean is known for songs such as "Fly Over States" and "Tattoos On This Town" and is nominated for three CMA Awards this year, including Entertainer of the Year. He won his first two awards last year. The annual ceremony takes place on November 1 and will be hosted by country stars Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley for the fifth time.
