Fullerton firefighters wear pink for cancer research

FULLERTON, Calif.

For the entire month of October, fire personnel are wearing pink shirts with the department's logo.

Firefighters are also selling "Let's Give Cancer the Boot" T-shirts to raise money for the Vanguard Cancer Foundation, which works on cancer research.

"We recently found that one of our firefighters, his wife, is terminally ill with cancer right now. And so the money generated is going to be donated in her name to this Vanguard Research," said Fullerton Fire Capt. Pete Gray.

The shirts cost $12 and are available at Fire Station 1, 312 E. Commonwealth Ave., Fire Station 5, 2555 Yorba Linda Blvd., and at the Fullerton Farmers Market Thursday nights.
