San Diego Zoo panda seeing, hearing more
SAN DIEGO, Calif.
Veterinarians said the cub's eyes and ears have fully opened. The panda now weighs 6.6 pounds, his chest girth is 13.7 inches and his head-to-bottom length is 16 inches.
Toward the end of his latest exam on Thursday, the panda started making noises, which is another milestone in his development.
Now that the panda is a bit older, his mom, Bai Yun, is taking him out of the den so he can explore new things, said a zoo official. His mom is also encouraging her little one to crawl.
The zoo will announce the panda's name in November once he is 100 days old, which is a Chinese tradition.
