Eye on L.A.'s 'Legends of Laurel Canyon' video extra

LOS ANGELES

Eye on L.A.'s Tina Malave has been on an extraordinary journey through Laurel Canyon over the last year, discovering what really went down in this fabled neighborhood during the 1960s and 1970s. She's come across some of the most fascinating tales about some of the biggest music icons in history, from the people who experienced it all first-hand!

Few areas in the world can claim as many icons and legends as Laurel Canyon. The music that came out of the Laurel Canyon area in the '60s and '70s shaped an entire generation, and the future of music. Residents of the canyon included The Doors, Brian Wilson, Jimi Hendrix, LOVE, the Mamas and the Papas, Crosby Stills and Nash, Frank Zappa, Sonny & Cher, Joni Mitchell, The Monkees, Carole King and on and on.

Tina has been working closely with music historians like Harvey Kubernik, author of Canyon of Dreams: The Magic and Music of Laurel Canyon, and acclaimed rock photographers Henry Diltz and Bobby Klein, to bring the tales of the canyon to life. You'll hear the incredible stories from the people who lived through it all, about everyone from Frank Zappa to The Monkees, and The Doors to Joni Mitchell, and see some intriguing rare photos and film footage.

There's no way to tell all of Laurel Canyon's tales in one hour, but this one-hour special will take those who know some of the stories on a nostalgic trip down memory lane while also telling them a few new stories they may not know about. We also invite those who don't know the incredible musical history of Laurel Canyon to watch and become as fascinated as we are.

Music fans who can't watch the show on ABC7 Los Angeles on October 13, can see the special after it airs at www.abc7.com/eyeonla.
