It was not a white wedding for Amber Tamblyn, but it was the picture of rustic bliss and brought together a famous "sisterhood."
The 29-year-old "House" and "Joan of Arcadia" actress wore a short sleeve canary yellow dress, walked barefoot and held a bouquet containing yellow roses and a sunflower as she tied the knot with "Arrested Development" star David Cross, 48, during an outdoor ceremony in the woods, near an undisclosed campground, on Saturday. He wore a jacket, sweater vest, white button-down shirt and bow tie.
As seen by a series of Instagram photos posted by The Roots' DJ Questlove, who provided the music along with band Yo La Tengo, the couple arrived via canoe. They and guests walked through the woods, alongside an ethereal view of fall foliage and a river, to the ceremony, which was attended by about 120 people.
Celebrity guests included Amy Poehler of NBC's "Parks and Recreation" and America Ferrera and Alexis Biedel, who appeared with Tamblyn in the "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" films. Their other co-star, Blake Lively, also attended, with Ryan Reynolds. The two reportedly wed in a non-publicized ceremony last month. DJ Questlove referred to them as "The Reynolds."
He called the event "the most awesome wedding ever," adding that guests had to camp in the woods. The wedding cheese cake was topped by what appeared to be a bear and fox resembling Tamblyn and Cross. The Georgia-born actor's likeness dons a mustache and an Atlanta Braves cap.
Tamblyn posted a message about her wedding on her Facebook and shared one of DJ Questlove's photos. It shows her raising her bouquet in joy while standing near Cross as guests clap.
"This picture taken by our friend and DJ Questlove says it all," she said. "Thank you to everyone who was there both in spirit and physically. Also thank you to the companies and people who donated/supported every little detail for all the camp guests: Juice Beauty Organics, Burts Bees, Early Bird Cookery. Headed off to Honeymoonville now, which sounds like the name of something one would find on Hello Giggles."
Lance Bang, a director, also shared a photo on Instagram of the couple dancing at their wedding with Yo La Tengo playing in the background.
The couple announced their engagement in August 2011. It is the first marriage for both actors.
Tamblyn rose to fame on the CBS series "Joan of Arcadia" and also played Martha on the FOX drama "House." Aside from "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" series, she has appeared in movies such as "The Grudge 2," "Main Street" and "127 Hours" and the Quentin Tarantino film "Django Unchained." Her father is "West Side Story" actor Russ Tamblyn, who played the leader of the Jets gang in the movie musical.
Cross is a stand-up comedian who is perhaps best known for his work on HBO's sketch comedy series, "Mr. Show" and for his role as Tobias Fünke in FOX's "Arrested Development." He reprises his part in an upcoming "Arrested Development" movie. Also, a much-anticipated fourth season of the series will appear on Netflix in spring 2013.
