DNA leads police to the arrest of a Santa Ana sexual assault suspect

SANTA ANA, Calif.

According to authorities, Damian Anthony Reyes, 26, broke into the victim's home in the 1500 block of North Ross on June 29 around 1:30 a.m. through a window.

Once inside, Reyes climbed onto a top bunk bed and sexually assaulted an 8-year old girl while she was sleeping. The assault woke up the victim's 13-year-old sister who was asleep on the bottom bunk. The two girls screamed for help causing the suspect to flee the residence through the window at a rapid speed.

After releasing a sketch of the suspect to the public, Santa Ana Police received news of a positive match on the DNA left at the scene. The DNA matched Damian Anthony Reyes

The suspect was arrested outside of his residence Wednesday in the 1300 block of North King and charged on burglary, child molestation by force, and enhancement charges making this a potential life case.

Reyes is being held at Santa Ana Jail on $1 million bail.
