OTRC: Miley Cyrus reportedly exits 'Bonnie & Clyde' miniseries talks

Looks like TV audiences will not get to see Miley Cyrus in action as a bank robber after all.

The former Disney Channel star is reportedly no longer in talks to play Bonnie Parker in a four hour Lifetime/History Chanel miniseries about infamous bank robbers Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow, according to TV Line.

The miniseries, titled "Bonnie & Clyde," is being produced by Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, the executive producers of the NBC musical series "Smash." The report states that it is not clear what led to the breakdown in negotiations for the role.

Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow were robbers and lovers on the run during the Great Depression in the early 1930s. Parker and Barrow were together for a few years before they were gunned down in 1934 in an ambush with officers in Louisiana. Parker, a native of Texas, was 23 years old when she died.

Parker and Barrow's story has been portrayed in several films, most notably in the 1967 movie "Bonnie and Clyde," which starred Faye Dunaway as Bonnie Parker and Warren Beatty as Clyde Barrow. Beatty and Dunaway were nominated for Oscars and Golden Globes for their roles in the film.

The duo has also been referenced in several songs including the 2003 hit "'03 Bonnie & Clyde," featuring Beyonce and Jay-Z.

Cyrus is set to return to television for the first time since her Disney Channel show "Hannah Montana" ended in 2011 with a two-episode role on "Two and a Half Men." Her first episode on the show will air on October 17 and the actress plays a friend of Walter (Ashton Kutcher) and a love interest of Angus T. Jones' character Jake.

Cyrus and her fiance Liam Hemsworth recently filmed the music video for Israeli DJ Borgore's "Decisions" in which Hemsworth was dressed as a unicorn. The video will also show the pair "making out."
