Taryn Manning has been accused of punching, kicking and choking her personal assistant at a New York hotel.
The 33-year-old actress, who has appeared in films like "8 Mile" and "Crossroads," allegedly assaulted her assistant Holliann Hartman, who is also her hairdresser, as the Dream Downtown Hotel in Manhattan, early in the morning of October 11.
Police told the New York Daily News that the incident occurred around 5 a.m. ET and Manning's 23-year-old assistant suffered scratches and bruises to her face and neck.
Manning's rep told OTRC.com in a statement, "There was an unfortunate incident between two very dear friends, who are like family to each other. The complainant, Holly, has indicated to the DA's Office that she does not wish to proceed with any criminal prosecution against Taryn, and we believe the situation at hand will be clarified and resolved between the two friends expeditiously."
Manning's her defense attorney Joe Tacopina told People magazine that the incident was minor and that the pair are good friends and roommates.
"They'd been together every waking minute and they got on each other's nerves and had a little incident," Tacopina told People. "It was a minor physical incident."
On October 12, Manning was charged with misdemeanor assault and choking and released without bail. She was ordered to avoid Hartman until her next court appearance on November 13.
The actress is perhaps best known for portraying Eminem's girlfriend in the 2002 film, "8 Mile." She has also appeared in films like "Hustle and Flow," "Crazy/Beautiful" and Britney Spears' "Crossroads."
Manning is also known for her recurring roles on "Sons of Anarchy" and "Hawaii Five-0." She also has a music career and released her debut solo album, "Freedom City," last month.
