Official poster images of Anne Hathaway as Fantine and Amanda Seyfried as her daughter Cosette from the new film "Les Miserables" have been released.
Seyfried, who rose to fame playing a ditsy blonde high school student in the 2004 cult hit "Mean Girls," showcases soft, brunette locks and the look of innocence and beauty projected by her character in the movie, which is based on the award-winning Broadway musical.
Hathaway's character is a mother who sacrifices everything for her only child and the actress demonstrates pure determination and a hint of desperation in her poster image. She also appears with long, brunette hair, which Fantine sports during parts of the production. The actress chopped off her own locks to play the emotionally demanding role.
Official poster images for main characters Jean Valjean, a convict (Prisoner No. 24601) and Cosette's adoptive father, played by Hugh Jackman, and his nemesis, a police officer named Javert, played by Russell Crowe were also released recently. "Les Miserables" depicts the stories of Vanjean's quest for redemption, as well as the stories of the impoverished people and determined student fighters in France during the French Revolution.
The cast members of "Les Miserables" sang their songs live on the set, which is an unorthodox filming method. The musical is known for songs such as "Can You Hear The People Sing?," "Red and Black," "In My Life" and "I Dreamed a Dream" - a track made even more famous by British singer Susan Boyle, who sang it for her on-screen audition for "Britain's Got Talent" in 2009. Hathaway's character sings it in "Les Miserables."
"Les Miserables" is set for release on December 25 - Christmas Day.
