Beyonce has confirmed that she will appear at Super Bowl XLVII on Feb. 3, 2013, following an earlier report that said she will perform during the halftime show.
On Tuesday October 16, her official website featured a post titled "Countdown to Touchdown" and a photo of the 31-year-old Grammy-winning singer sporting strips of "eye black," which athletes use to reduce glare during a game, with the words "Feb 3" and "2013" written in white inside them.
Earlier, the Associated Press quoted an anonymous source as saying Beyonce would perform at the Super Bowl halftime show.
UPDATE: The National Football League confirmed the news with a statement on Tuesday, after the singer's announcement. The Super Bowl will air live on CBS.Beyonce, known for No. 1 hits as "Single Ladies" and "Crazy in Love," sang the national anthem at the 2004 Super Bowl in Houston, Texas - her hometown. Beyonce recently made a surprise onstage appearance at her husband and hip hop mogul Jay-Z's concert at the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on October 6.
