Chevy Volt gets software update to fix motor glitch

DETROIT

The automaker says a glitch is causing some motors to shut down while driving. According to The New York Times, the problem stems from a feature that allows owners to pre-select a convenient time to charge the car's battery.

GM says the problem only affects the 2013 Chevy Volt and up to 4,000 vehicles may be at risk.

No formal recall has been announced for the all-electric car. The customer satisfaction campaign is considered a step below a recall, which would be issued by a car company and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
