Fox officially announced on September 16 that Minaj and Keith Urban signed on as "American Idol" judges and would join Randy Jackson and Mariah Carey for the next season.

The new judges come on the heels of the departures of former judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez at the end of last season. Lopez and Tyler joined the series in 2010.
Earlier this month, there were reports of a feud between Carey and Minaj. A video of Minaj screaming expletives at Carey during an audition in Charlotte, North Carolina on October 2, also made headlines.
