Sketch released in attempted kidnapping in Downey

DOWNEY, Calif.

The alleged incident happened around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday in a residential area as the girl walked to school.

The victim said she noticed the man initially following her in his car. As soon as the man stopped his vehicle, the victim ran. The suspect chased after her and grabbed her upper arm. She fought him off, ran to school, and reported the incident. She said the suspect ran back to his vehicle and fled the scene.

The suspect was described as a light-complected man, possibly Hispanic, in his mid 30s, approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall with a medium build and dark brown shaggy hair. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

He was driving a dark colored two-door vehicle similar to an early 1990's Ford Probe. The suspect's car was reportedly customized with black rims and a loud exhaust.
