USC Halloween party shooting: Suspect pleads not guilty to attempted murder

LOS ANGELES

Brandon Spencer, 20, appeared in court on Monday afternoon. He has been charged with four counts of attempted murder.

Four people, including former Crenshaw High School football star Geno Hall, were injured in the shooting. According to the complaint, the shooting was gang related.

Authorities say the party was sponsored by the Black Student Assembly and attended by several hundred people.

If convicted, Spencer faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. A preliminary hearing was set for Dec 6.
