Navy SEALs punished for role in 'Medal of Honor' game

WASHINGTON

Senior Navy officials said the SEALs were advisors for the game "Medal of Honor: Warfighter" and disclosed classified information.

There were reportedly two major violations. They did not seek permission for their involvement in the project, and they showed the video game designers some of their unique combat equipment.

The SEALs have received letters of reprimand and a two-month reduction in pay, actions that generally hinder a military member's career.

"We do not tolerate deviations from the policies that govern who we are and what we do as sailors in the United States Navy," Bonelli said. He alluded to the importance of honoring nondisclosure agreements that SEALs sign.

Four other SEALs are under investigation for similar alleged violations, one official said.
