Anne Hathaway returned to the "Saturday Night Live" stage for a third time to host the show on November 10 and reprised her Katie Holmes impression, poked fun at "Homeland" and even showed off her singing chops with a parody of her upcoming film "Les Miserables" during her opening monologue.
In the film, which is due out on December 25, Hathaway plays Fantine, a mother who sacrifices everything for her only child Cosette. Hathaway's monologue was a parody of the musical's song "One Day More" and featured most of the show's cast.
Later on, the show did a spot on parody of the Emmy Award-winning Showtime series "Homeland" complete with Hathaway taking on Carrie Mathison's (played by Claire Danes on the actual series) crying face and obsession with Nicholas Brody, a U.S. Marine Sergeant turned al-Qaeda informant. Mathison even had a jazz freak-out and sipped on white wine while taking pills.
Hathaway reprised her Katie Holmes impression for a skit that parodied "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" with cast member Kate McKinnon doing an impression of DeGeneres. Hathaway's Katie Holmes appeared to promote Holmes' new Broadway show "Dead Accounts."
"Well, if you read Us Weekly you know that Suri and I spend every waking moment at the zoo," Hathaway as Holmes said out of the side of her mouth. The skit was not posed online but Mediaite has a clip.
Hathaway explained in a 2010 interview that her impression is a take on Holmes' mannerisms during her "Dawson's Creek" days.
"I was a teenager when 'Dawson's Creek' was airing, and I was a pretty avid fan, so it just sort of came from that," Hathaway told The Hollywood Reporter shortly after the first time she did the impression in 2010. "It wasn't really Katie Holmes; it was more [her 'Dawson's Creek' character] Joey Potter."
During Saturday's episode the show also poked fun at the Presidential election with the "Saturday Night Live" cast members taking on both President Barack Obama and former Gov. Mitt Romney in separate skits.
The show featured musical performances by Rihanna who sang her hit song "Diamonds" and her single "Stay."
Next week the show will be hosted by Jeremy Renner and the musical guest will be Maroon 5. How do you think Hathaway did as host? Check out some clips below and vote in our poll.
