Vets who love to hit the slopes can do so for free Monday at Mountain High ski resort, while those who love to hit a baseball are participating in batting practice at Dodger Stadium. More than 100 military members and veterans from Wounded Warriors, Operation Mend, Welcome Back Veterans and Veterans in Film and Television are expected at the ballpark and will be joined by Magic Johnson, third baseman Luis Cruz and alumni Tim Leary, Paul Lo Duca, among others.
In Temecula, former and active-duty servicemen and women can stop by Pechanga Indian Casino for a free meal. Free lunch will be served between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., and free dinner will be offered between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. Former and current service members must present a valid military identification card, discharge papers or veterans' organization card. Guests of service members will be charged regular price for their meals.
The ninth annual San Fernando Valley Veterans Day Parade will begin in Pacoima, starting at 11:11 a.m. The starting time is a nod to World War I ending on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. The parade will begin at the corner of Laurel Canyon and San Fernando Mission boulevards and end 1.1 miles south at Richie Valens Park at Laurel Canyon and Paxton Street.

-A groundbreaking for a veterans apartment complex in El Monte
-Veteran's Day ceremonies in Eagle Rock, West Hollywood and Redondo Beach
-The city of Fullerton's Veterans Day parade, which will begin with a fly-over by planes from Air Combat USA. The parade will be at the Downtown Plaza on Wilshire Avenue starting at 10:20 a.m.
-A Veterans Day ceremony and dedication of the second phase of the La Verne Veterans Memorial at Veterans Hall, located at 1550 Bonita Avenue, starting at 11 a.m.
-A Veterans Day closing ceremony for the Antelope Valley Wall starting at 5 p.m. at the Palmdale Amphitheater.
-USC's Visions and Voices: Arts and Humanities Initiative's performance of "Fit for Society," at the Ronald Tutor Campus Center ballroom at 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, government offices, courts, libraries, banks and post offices are closed in observance of Veterans Day. All Metro-operated buses and trains are operating on a normal schedule, as are the Foothill Transit Lines and Metrolink trains. Trash will be collected as usual in Los Angeles.
