For Taylor Lautner, the end of "The Twilight Saga" franchise is an experience filled with mixed emotions. Although the star says he's "satisfied" with how the movie series ends, he's not satisfied that it is coming to an end.
The actor also said that his character, Jacob Black, is a hero within the franchise for a variety of reasons and talked about his next steps after "Twilight."
"I am satisfied. I'm not satisfied that it's ending but I'm satisfied with how it's ending," Lautner told OTRC.com in a recent interview. "If it has to come to an end this was the way to do it."
The first part of "Breaking Dawn" was released in November 2011 and shows Bella and Edward marrying and later, the birth of their daughter, Renesmee. The delivery nearly kills Bella, who is subsequently turned into a vampire. In the final installment, which is set for release on Nov. 16, Bella and Edward fight the Volturi to protect their child.
Jacob Black, a werewolf, imprinted on Renesmee. In the "Twilight" world, imprinting is when a shape-shifter like Jacob finds his soul mate at first glance. It is an involuntary reaction that may or may not lead to romantic entanglement in the future. As a result, Jacob has sworn to protect Renesmee.
Lautner said that throughout the series, Jacob has been a hero for a variety of reasons.
"Jacob is a hero in many different ways. Not just the generic hero type. Jacob has so many qualities about him that make him a hero," he said. "The guy's loyalty throughout this entire franchise, his persistence, everything. I would absolutely consider Jacob a hero."
As for what's in store for fan with "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2," Lautner called the film "epic."
"I would describe this movie as epic. This is the most epic one for sure but also after the epic-ness, it becomes very sweet and it wraps up the franchise in a very nice way and pays tribute to everything and everyone and I think the fans will appreciate that as well," he said.
Now that the "Twilight Saga" is over, Lautner said he has a few projects lined up. He is set to have a cameo in "Grown Ups 2" and is attached to an action film called "Tracers."
"I've had a few moments to sit and do nothing and that was great but I'm ready, as soon as it's over, to start the next chapter and continue to challenge myself," Lautner said. "There's a few projects that are totally different for me that I'm forward to. One of them I'm able to retain with the producers of 'Twilight' on who are extremely talented. I basically I owe everything to this franchise. It's given all of us the opportunity to go off and do other things and without this we wouldn't have that."
