Actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson and his fiancé Justin Mikita are literally "tying the knot" in hopes that same-sex couples across the country can do so legally. The pair created an exclusive new line of bow ties to benefit marriage equality.
"All the proceeds from the bow ties are going toward marriage equality," Ferguson told OTRC.com at a recent launch event in West Hollywood. "Getting people to wear our bow ties is really important for us, and plus, they're really nice bow ties!"
The bow tie line is a product of the charity Tie The Knot Ferguson and Mikita launched to raise awareness and advocate on behalf of marriage equality. Ferguson's "Modern Family" co-stars Ty Burrell, Eric Stonestreet and Nolan Gould attended the event and sported the bow ties to show support.
I absolutely did not tie this bow tie myself," Stonestreet said. "There was just an incident over there right before I got here, to make sure I got this tied on my head."
When asked if the cast will continue to spruce up their looks with his ties, Ferguson joked, "Oh I assume so. They're all asking for like free ones. I'm like no. I know how much money you make!"
