Charlie Chaplin's cane, hat sold for $62.5K

LOS ANGELES

An undisclosed buyer paid $62,500 for the memorabilia. The items were the highlight at the Bonhams auction in Hollywood.

The hat and cane are synonymous with Chaplin's "Little Tramp" character in films, such as "City Lights" and "Modern Times."

Other items sold included a handwritten letter from John Lennon with a nude drawing of him and Yoko Ono, which went for $25,000, a set of original Marilyn Monroe photographs, which sold for $21,250, and a painting by Frank Sinatra, which fetched $10,625.
