Vivian Campbell, a guitarist for the rock and hair metal group Def Leppard, has filed for divorce from his wife of 25 years, Julie Campbell.

The 50-year-old Northern Irish rocker submitted the papers at a Los Angeles court on November 9, OTRC.com has learned. He and Julie have two daughters, who are 13 and 11 years old.

Vivian and Julie married in 1987. Five years later, he joined Def Leppard, one of the most popular 1980s rock groups that still tours today. The band is known for hits such as "Pour Some Sugar On Me," "Bringin' On The Heartbreak," "Love Bites," Rock of Ages" and "Hysteria."

Vivian has not commented about the divorce. He has been linked to another woman, a Def Leppard crew member named Caitlin Phaneuf, for the past few years, popular rock and metal music site Blabbermouth reported. The two attended the wedding of lead guitarist Phil Collen in 2010, according to the UK newspaper The Daily Mail. Vivian has not commented about the nature of their relationship.

Vivian posted a message on his Facebook page days after he filed the divorce papers, on November 13, saying: "For the past 4 weeks the woman I love has been working in Europe with another band with a big cat name. I've missed her so much and it's been total and utter [expletive] with her being gone for so long."

"Thankfully the tour finishes in London this Thursday night and I'm flying over to see her," he said. "I'm bringing my Les Paul as apparently they're foolish enough to let me get up and do a couple of songs with them. Packing my bags, leaving tomorrow night - big excitement!"

He did not name the band in question but appeared to be referring to Steel Panther, a Los Angeles 1980s-style rock and metal group. Vivian joined the band on stage at a gig at the House of Blues in Anaheim, California in January.

Def Leppard ended a "Rock of Ages" summer tour of the United States and Canada in September and is preparing for a nine-show concert residency at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The show, titled "VIVA Hysteria!," will run between March 22 and April 10, 2013 and the band members will perform their greatest hits and other songs from the 1987 album "Hysteria."
