Hey girl, this poster is bogus.
Ryan Gosling, one of Hollywood's most popular heartthrobs, sports a bloody, bruised and swollen face in a photo that has recently been published and shared online.
The picture is being touted as the official movie poster for his newest film project, Nicolas Winding Refn's violent crime drama "Only God Forgives." However, that is not the case, a rep for the Danish director told OTRC.com on Tuesday, November 20, saying: "Someone stole a still photo and made a fake poster."
The independent film was shot in Bangkok, Thailand and is set for release next year. Gosling, 32, previously worked with Refn on the 2011 movie "Drive."
In "Only God Forgives," the Canadian actor plays Julien, a British man who, along with his brother Billy, manages a Thai boxing club that acts as a front for his family's drug smuggling business. Kristin Scott Thomas plays his mother, a criminal underworld leader herself, who flies there from London after Billy, portrayed by Tom Burke, is murdered.
This marks one of the grittiest roles for Gosling, a former child star and "All New Mickey Mouse Club" cast member who rose to fame with the 2004 romance film "The Notebook" and became so popular that he inspired his own "Hey girl" photo meme online.
He can also be seen next in another upcoming violent film - "Gangster Squad," which depicts the Los Angeles police department's fight against the East Coast Mafia in the 1940s and 1950s and stars Emma Stone as Gosling's love interest. The movie hits theaters on Jan. 11, 2013.
